50 min sessions for Oregon & Washington residents

If you are ready to invest in, and begin this process of healing in your life and your relationships then counseling may be the best next step for you. I see individuals who are experiencing feelings of depression, anxiety, struggles with body image, self-esteem, spiritual issues, relational distress, grief and loss, childhood trauma/abuse, and eating disorders.

Many of my clients are dealing with deep feelings of insecurity, perfectionism, self-hatred or shame. If this sounds like you, I would love to walk with you in your journey so that you can find freedom from the crushing weight of shame and perfectionism in your life---there is hope.

Whether you are experiencing challenges within a relationship, or feelings of confusion, ambiguity and distress in any area of your life, therapy can help you develop insight, gain clarity and find a new way forward. Counseling can provide a safe place to explore new strategies for coping, that allow you to live a fuller, more authentic life.

Virtual appoointments are offered, as well as in-person sessions at my office located in SE Portland at 6124 SE Milwaukie Ave Suite 205 Portland OR 97202.

My education and clinical experience working with adults in individual settings has prepared me to supervise student interns, and pre-licensed counselors. I am an Oregon Approved Supervisor Candidate, Licensed Professional Counselor in Oregon and an LMHC in Washington.

I am qualified to supervise counselors who are using the most common therapeutic modalities and treatment methods including group and individual treatment methods, as well as those who specialize in EMDR therapy. Some areas of practice are outside of my scope of competence, and I will not provide supervision in such cases.

I understand the supervision to be relationship-based education. I utilize a holistic approach to supervision, integrating a developmental and a systems model of supervision, in order to best suit the your personality, philosophy, work setting, competence level, and experiential history. My role of supervisor is to always protect client welfare, improve your skills and competence, and provide professional guidance and support. Regardless of approach, a variety of supervision modalities and techniques will be used to reach the core goals of supervision including: embodied experientials, video recordings, role-play, note review and other modalities that will further your development.

EMDR Therapy

Reprocess and relieve the negative effects of trauma

EMDR, which stands for "eye movement desensitization and reprocessing" is a powerful therapy to help facilitate the brains' natural healing processes. Often when trauma occurs, information can get stuck or stored in the brain in unhelpful ways and continue to negatively effect you in your present day life. The old stored information can be triggered in the present and can cause you to have thoughts, feelings or sensations that transport you right back to the time the trauma occurred. This affects the way we see the world and how we relate with others.

For most, negative beliefs  like "I am worthless," "I am bad," "It's all my fault," or "I am not good enough,"  which are born out of many types of big or small traumas, can drive reactions, relationships and feelings about ourselves in our present day lives. EMDR uses eye movements (similar to what occurs during REM sleep) to help facilitate information processing, and relieve the negative effects of trauma in your life and the negative beliefs that go with it. You will still remember what happened but it will become less upsetting so that you are no longer reliving the feelings, images and sounds related to the traumatic event that occurred. I have seen clients find relief and freedom through the use of EMDR therapy, and if you are interested in reading more click here and here to read a couple of articles which are both helpful in providing additional information and evidence based research on EMDR.
